About Carlene Haavig Yoga

Hello! My name is Carlene and I am a yoga teacher plus mom of two boys, dog, cat, bearded dragon and many plant babies. Thank you so much for joining me on my journey, I am so glad that you are here.

I received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification from Prairie Yoga in Lisle, IL in 2016. This is when I quit my full-time job and decided teach yoga. I have been practicing yoga for 15 years and it is both a physical as well as spiritual practice that is very dear to my heart.

I began practicing yoga after discovering a life-threatening soft-ball sized tumor in my pancreas. I had to have my entire spleen and 60% of my pancreas removed. While I lived to tell the tale, the healing process was a long road to recovery and I began practicing restorative yoga to help heal both the physical and emotional wounds.

My favorite part of teaching yoga is sharing my healing process with my students and helping them to discover how yoga can help heal and strengthen the body, manage stress and anxiety, improve sleep, nurture self-love and confidence, and achieve mindfulness.

Yoga is a personal journey of self-discovery and ultimately helps us create intention and live with more presence and purpose. Every day is a gift that is often taken for granted. After almost losing mine, it has been a deeply important ritual of mine to try to live each day to the fullest, pursue what makes me happy and live with purpose, meaning and intention.

Let’s build something together.
